报告题目:Electrochemical Nitrogen Activation for Ammonia Synthesis

报告摘要

Ammonia is an important chemical for society to produce fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, polymers, and other chemicals. Electrochemical ammonia synthesis is regarded as a promising route to complement the Haber-Bosch process for the distributed production of fertilizers in small-scale devices powdered by renewable electricity. After rigorous quantitative investigations, lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction reaction (Li-NRR) was validated as a promising route for electrochemical ammonia synthesis. Although significant progress has been made to achieve high FE and current density, most Li-NRR studies have the limitations of sacrificing solvent as protons for ammonia synthesis and difficulties in scaling up production in batch-type electrochemical cells (i.e., one-compartment cells and autoclaves). To overcome the above challenges, the latest research progress of the Li-NRR will be shared, such as continuous-flow reactor and design of stable anode catalyst in the organic system. A new system based on mediated ammonia synthesis was found beyond the Li-NRR. 

报告人简介:

Dr. Fu is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow (2021) in the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark. He works with Prof. Ib Chorkendorff and Prof. Jens Kehlet Nørskov on electrochemical ammonia synthesis. His research focuses on the transformation of Energy-to-Chemicals, such as electrochemical ammonia synthesis, reduction of CO/CO2 into fuels/chemicals, and electrocatalysis (ORR, HOR, OER, and HER), involving electrochemical reactor design and scale-up. He was the Young Editorial Board Member of eScience, Nano Research, and Applied Research. As the first author, his scientific papers were published in international refereed journals, such as Science, Nature Materials and Nature Catalysis. He created the WeChat Official Account “Catalysis Breaks New Ground(催化开天地)” and serves as Editor-in-chief. Up to now, this account has more than 70,000 followers, over 1300 posters, and daily views of more than 10,000.
